…I miss the ocean. and walking along the sandy shores. I was born on Prince Edward Island, so was brought up being surrounded by beaches and now I live in Central Canada which is really quite beautiful too, but do I EVER MISS THE BEACHES!!!! And the sand. I especially want to bury myself in sand and attempt some sand sculptures.….badly. and play in waves. and have salty hair. and the list goes on and on. I would just build wonky castles though, that droop and topple…not like some of these majestic, interesting sculptures. A lot of these pictures are from International Sand Sculpture Contests from around the world, and of course I had to throw in a few amateur kitties.  At the end of the month, I am off to visit New Brunswick & PEI for some summer vacation and CANNOT WAIT!

Do any of you have any interesting summer vacation plans..or sand sculpture talents?! ;)

UM, BEST POST I HAVE SEEN IN 4EVER!!! so frakking awesome! these castles are THE SHIT! jaysus! jaysus! i have to look at it all again!

i live about an hour from the beach, and i never go. it is just WRONG. but there are just throngs and throngs of people, and it is such a hipster doofus scene, so i rarely go. when i first moved to la i went to the beach ever weekend. i could not get enough of it. and now i am kind of a sour puss and usually wait to hit the beach on some kind of vacation.

speaking of which, a beach vacation is sounding really nice. REALLY NICE. well, any kind of vacation is sounding nice.

happy friday!!!! get to the beach, girlie! do it. :)

so cool! i love the beach, too- i always live in coastal, beachy places.
i lived on a small caribbean island for over a decade and we would spend hours on the beaches. hardly anyone would build sand sculptures, though- now that i think about that, it's kind of weird that it's not part of the local culture.

I love the guy crawling out of the shark sculpture.

We took our vacation a little early but it was much needed and really nice. I WANT ANOTHER!!

Wowsers! I clicked on that link for Prince Edward Island - gosh! How exotic and wonderous is that? ...and it's in Canada! I never know! It's funny to think you guys have the same Queen as us folk - we're actually celebrating her B'day on Monday with a holiday - is it the same for you guys too?

P.S. Those sand sculptures make me feel like an underachiever!!! :0) Amazing!
